Study Guide for the MD CS Certification program pretest

 If you are applying to be part of the Maryland cohort of teachers in the Maryland CS Certification program, you will need to apply and pass the pretest. (you can retake it if needed)

Then you will need to complete the assigned review coursework. More information will be provided when you apply.

Start by reviewing the College Board test 5652 CS Praxis II official study guide. Pay special attention to questions 2-4,6,12-13,20-25 on pages 20-29.

The pretest consists of up to 20 practice questions that are easy-moderate level of difficulty. (it changes every few months)

The topics to cover for the pretest are:

  1. Programming, algorithms and computational thinking
  2. Computing Systems and networks


It is highly recommended that you review the ETS Study Guide before taking either the pretest or the exam so you know what to expect.
