Who is part of the collaboration? Local school systems, PK-12 classroom teachers, between departments in our institution

Description of the strategy to infuse CS/CT into education programs: We have built a four year pathway introducing CT to our elementary and dual certification pre-service teachers in both of their freshman math courses, then we pull CT into their core math their sophomore year. When they are Juniors they participate in a 5 part CT seminar as part of their Methods courses and when they are Seniors they use CT as a part of their Reflective Inquiry Project. We have also engaged other stakeholders such as our faculty, mentor teachers and university supervisors in CT workshops so they can better support our pre-service teachers.

Contact: Lori Sheetz. I am a professor at Mount Saint Mary's University teaching courses in both the School of Natural Science and Mathematics and School of Education. I teach courses in the core math program as well as the math, science and social studies methods courses. One of my focuses over the past three years has been to develop and teach a series of CT workshops for elementary pre-service teacher program and professional development workshops for our university faculty, mentor teachers, and our university supervisors. We are currently expanding our efforts to our secondary education program.
